A black man was stabbed right here for nothing more than the color of his skin.
Lots of people are wondering what they can do in this new age of political upheaval. I can take pictures, so that's what I'll do. I mean, I'll do more, but I'll do that.

Kristin Cavez and Alok Kumar in Venture Opera's CARMEN.
On Saturday, I had the privilege to photograph Venture Opera's performance of CARMEN at the Diamond Horseshoe Theater. A stunning performance in an amazing space, it's definitely a company to keep an eye on.

Just a few buildings, that is all.
Every 80's kid had a bit of a crush on her, so it was a pleasure to see Molly Ringwald perform at Birdland last night. Humble and engaging with a great style she brings to her songs.
The Retronaut himself, Wofgang Wild.
Last week I covered the opening of "Retronaut's New York" at Premiere Exhibitions at 5th Avenue, a truly fascinating look at turn of the 20th century panoramic photos of New York City curated by Wolfgang Wild. The exhibit also features a massive "Timescape" of Times Square created by Dynamichrome's Jordan Lloyd. It's a photo comp stitched together from several photographs taken throughout the century and represents a little bit of every decade. Painstakingly accurate with nearly 1000 layers. It's amazing.

From 2006. The "Coup De Coeur" on a moonless night at friend's family house on Martha's Vineyard.
I went to hear Gabriela Herman speak today at B&H, she pretty much launched her career off of Martha's Vineyard, so it got me thinking of my little bit of vacation time there. This shot never quite felt right to me but I love it because it's lit solely by moonlight and Ursa Major is hanging out in the background.
So I had the opportunity to photograph two of the world's most famous Egyptologists earler this week, Dr Zahi Hawass and Dr. Nicholas Reeves at "The Discovery of King Tut" at Premiere Exhibitions at 5th Avenue. I'm a bit of a History Channel junkie, so It was a bit of a thrill to meet Dr. Hawass, having seen him on so many programs. The exhibit itself is really well done, and although they're replicas, there's no way you would know...
